New Delhi, November 14 (IANS). Dominica will honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi with its highest national award. This information came to light on Thursday. Dominica will honor PM Modi for his dedication to helping the Caribbean island nation during the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
This is not the first time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been honored with the highest national honor by a country. Till date, a record 14 countries have honored him. Apart from these highest civilian honours, Prime Minister Modi has received several prestigious awards from renowned global organisations.
These honors are a reflection of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and vision, which has strengthened India’s rise on the global stage. It also reflects India’s growing relations with countries around the world.
A look at the highest civilian honors given to PM Modi by major countries: –
In April 2016, during his visit to Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the King Abdulaziz Sash, Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian honour. This prestigious award was presented by King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
Also in 2016, PM Modi was awarded Afghanistan’s highest civilian honour, the ‘State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan’.
In 2018, during a historic visit to Palestine, Prime Minister Modi was awarded the Grand Collar of the State of Palestine Award, Palestine’s highest honor for foreign dignitaries.
In 2019, the Prime Minister was awarded the UAE’s highest civilian honour, the Order of Zayed Award, a testament to the close India-UAE relations.
Russia also honored Prime Minister Modi with its highest civilian honor, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, in 2019. PM Modi received the award during his visit to Moscow in July 2024.
In 2019, Maldives honored PM Modi with the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddin, the country’s highest honor for foreign dignitaries.
The United States awarded PM Modi the Legion of Merit in 2020, an honor awarded by the US armed forces for exceptional service and achievements.
Bhutan honored PM Modi with its highest civilian honour, the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, in December 2021. The award was presented during his visit to Bhutan in March 2024.
On July 13, 2023, PM Modi was awarded France’s highest award, the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, at a ceremony led by French President Emmanuel Macron.
