Hyderabad, 26 December (IANS). Representatives of the Telugu film industry on Thursday met Telangana Chief Minister A. Met Revanth Reddy.
The delegation led by Telangana State Film Development Corporation Chairman and renowned filmmaker Dil Raju met the Chief Minister at the Police Command and Control Room in Banjara Hills.
The representatives who met the Chief Minister included Allu Arjun’s father and producer Allu Aravind, actors Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, veteran actor Murali Mohan, filmmakers Raghavendra Rao, C. Kalyan, BVN Prasad, directors Vamshi Pedipalli, Trivikram, Naveen, Harish Shankar, Koratala. Names of Shiva and Boyapati Srinu are included.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Home Secretary Ravi Gupta, Director General of Police Jitendra and other officials were also present during the meeting.
The meeting assumes significance in view of the controversy surrounding the stampede that took place at the Sandhya theater during the premiere of Allu Arjun’s film ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’. A woman was killed and her son was seriously injured in this stampede.
Dil Raju had already clarified that the meeting with the Chief Minister was being organized by the Film Development Corporation.
Dil Raju had told, “We have communicated with everyone, those who are available in the city will attend the meeting. Issues related to the film industry will be discussed in the meeting.” Dil Raju had said that he would work as a bridge between the film industry and the government.
When asked if he would discuss the issue related to the stampede and the government’s decision of not allowing shows and increasing cinema ticket rates for new releases, he said there would be clarity on this after the meeting.
A day before the meeting, on Wednesday, Allu Arjun, Mythri Movie Makers and director Sukumar had given an assistance amount of Rs 2 crore to the family of Revathi, the woman who was killed in the stampede. His seriously injured son Shri Teja is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Allu Aravind had handed over a check of Rs 2 crore to Dil Raju on Wednesday.
He had told that he would ensure that this amount is used to secure the future of Shreteja, her sister and her father.
