New Delhi, September 20 (IANS) The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed to take further action after the protests against the Waqf Act is seeking views on this bill from various organizations and people related to Waqf.
Under this, President of All India Sufi Sajjadanasheen Council Syed Naseeruddin Chishti presented his side before the JPC in the capital Delhi on Friday.
Speaking to IANS after the meeting with the JPC, he explained it in detail.
He said, “Today we got a chance to present our side in front of the Joint Parliamentary Committee. I had come as the President of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council. Many representatives of our council were with me. They were from Gujarat, Hyderabad, UP and Delhi. Everyone presented their views. We have presented our views in front of the Joint Parliamentary Committee. We have also given our suggestions. We hope that this will be a good Waqf Act. The work that should be done inside the Waqf will be done. Everyone will benefit. Opposing, supporting is a part of a process. Everyone has the right to present their views. Many people presented our views. We had presented our views earlier also. We had already said that amendments are needed. Amendments are being made in this after listening to all the stakeholders, this is the best thing. This is the best thing that the government is calling all the stakeholders. The JPC is listening to them very calmly. There is a great need for change in the Waqf. To what extent we are successful in meeting this requirement, we will see in future.”
He further said that everyone should put forward their views strongly. All the institutions and people of the country have the right to put forward their views. I believe that such a law should be made that all the problems related to the Waqf Board, its management and corruption in it, should be resolved and the money of the Waqf should be used properly. Apart from this, the properties of the Waqf should also be protected. Waqf should always be allowed to remain Waqf.
