Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said on Saturday that for a better future of the youth and to make India a global leader, it is necessary to reconsider the current education system of the country and spend more money on education.
Speaking to a group of students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, he also said that quality education cannot be achieved through privatization and financial incentives.
The former Congress president shared this video of the conversation on various social media platforms.
Rahul Gandhi posted this video on his YouTube channel and said, “I recently had the privilege of talking to some talented youth from IIT Madras. “Together, we set out to discover what success really means.”
“We discussed the critical role of research and education in shaping India’s future and the need to foster a production ecosystem that values fairness, innovation and opportunity for all,” he said.
Gandhi stressed that the Indian education system must be rethought to educate its youth, realize the vision of a better tomorrow and transform India into a global leader. “At present, our education structure often restricts youth to certain careers like doctor, engineer, IAS, IPS, or armed forces,” he said.
Gandhi said this is the time to unlock diverse opportunities, empower students to fulfill their aspirations and create a future driven by innovation and choice.
The Congress leader said, “This conversation was not just about ideas, it was also about understanding how we can work together to position India as a power for equality and progress on the world stage. His thoughtful questions and refreshing perspective made this a truly inspiring conversation.”
He posted this video on ‘X’ and said, “I believe that guaranteeing quality education to its people is one of the most important responsibilities of any government. “This cannot be achieved through privatization and financial incentives.”
“We need to spend more money on education and strengthen government institutions,” Gandhi said.
