Yes, the Magadh Express split into 2 pieces in Buxar, Chhattisgarh yesterday. At the same time, an attempt was made to overturn the Kalindi Express in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A cylinder and petrol bomb were placed on the track on the way of the train. The train collided with the cylinder and there was a huge explosion. Hearing the explosion, the loco pilot applied emergency brakes, but if the train had overturned, the bodies of more than 500 people would have remained on the track. This accident has created a stir in the railway department. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has ordered an inquiry into the accident. Police and RPF-GRP have recovered many suspicious items from the spot.
Petrol, matches and bags were found on the tracks
RPF Kannauj Inspector OP Meena confirmed the accident and said that Kalindi Express was going from Kanpur to Prayagraj, when it collided with something between Barrajpur and Bilhaur on the Anwarganj-Kasganj railway line and a huge explosion occurred. The pilot immediately stopped the train by applying emergency brakes and got down to see but nothing was found on the spot. Fearing something untoward, he informed the station master, railway officials, GRP-RPF. When the investigation team reached the spot and searched, an LPG cylinder was found on the track 200 meters away from the train. A bottle filled with petrol, matchboxes and a bag were also kept on the track. Marks of rubbing with an iron object were also found on the track. The train stood for about 25 minutes and was sent forward only after the search.
Two such incidents happened last month as well
According to Rajendra Singh, PRO of Northeast Railway Izzatnagar Division, CCTV camera footage shows 2 unidentified people near the track, who have been taken into custody. Earlier, a similar incident had happened on August 16. The Sabarmati Express running on the Kanpur-Jhansi route derailed. 20 coaches and the engine derailed. The railways had said that there was a conspiracy in that case as well and there is talk of conspiracy in this case as well. Although the police are denying the conspiracy, the railways are adamant on the claim of conspiracy. On the night of August 23, a thick piece of wood was found on the track on the Anwarganj-Kasganj railway line in Farrukhabad, which led to the collision of the Kasganj-Farrukhabad Express. The police took action and arrested 2 youths, who believed that they had parked it on the track under the influence of alcohol. In such a situation, the police is also seriously investigating the third incident.
