Seven people have lost their lives so far in the floods due to cloudburst at five places in Himachal on Wednesday. Six people are still missing in Dharamshala and Kullu. The body of another laborer flowing in Manuni Khad in Khaniyara of Dharamshala was recovered in the morning. Two are still missing. Three bodies were recovered here on Thursday.
A young man climbed on the hill has been rescued amidst the havoc of Mysam. Teams of NDRF, SDRF, police and local people are searching for missing people in Kullu and Dharamshala. ADM Kangra Shilpi Becta said that today our goal is to find out the missing laborers. A 50 -member team of Himachal Pradesh Police, SDRF and NDRF is present on the spot. A team of home guards is also reaching here.
On the other hand, no clue of three members of the same family has been found in Sainz of Kullu. Another person is reported to be flowing in the Tirthan River. The body of a person has been recovered from the Beas river near the Jalpa temple in Dharampur, Mandi. On the other hand, tourists trapped in Sainz have been safely evacuated due to floods and landslides caused by cloudburst. On Wednesday, nine people working in a private power project in Sokni da Kot went missing amidst floods in Manuni Khad due to cloudburst in Khaniyara. On the other hand, Nand Lal (72), his daughter Murti Devi (15) and sister (67) are missing due to cloudburst in Sainz’s life in Kullu.
Alert of heavy rain for so many days
Alert has been issued by Masam Vigyan Kendra Shimla that heavy rains will continue in many parts of the state for one week. At the same time, the Mandi district administration has started taking precautionary steps in view of possible floods and landslides in the monsoon season. Deputy Commissioner and District Disaster Management Authority Chairman Apoorva Devgan issued an order saying that workers and migrant laborers living in sensitive areas will be immediately taken to safe places. The Deputy Commissioner has directed that NHAI, Road Transport, Hydropower Projects, Public Works Department, Water Power Department, Municipal Corporation and Panchayats should ensure the safety of migrant laborers under their jurisdiction and remove them from the risky areas as soon as possible.
People stay away from rivers, drains: DC
DC Apoorva Devgan also clarified that strict action will be taken against any officer under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 if this order disregarded this order. He has also appealed to the general public not to go unnecessarily to the river-drains and landslides possible areas and contact the district disaster control room in any emergency.
