Politics 2024: The year 2024 was a year of ups and downs for the country’s politics. BJP was successful in forming a coalition government in the Lok Sabha elections but it also suffered a personal setback, it got less seats in 2024 as compared to 2019. Overall, while 2024 was good for many leaders, it also proved to be very bad for many others. While this year brought mixed experiences for many leaders, many also got a big shock this year. A lot of turmoil was also seen in regional politics. There were many leaders who got good success in the Lok Sabha elections but got such a shock in the Assembly that it seemed as if their politics was over.
2024 was also full of ups and downs in Maharashtra politics. Eknath Shinde, who was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, is included among such leaders. Whose politics this year was full of ups and downs. While the results of the Lok Sabha elections were not good for Eknath Shinde, who became the Chief Minister in 2022, even after getting good seats in the Assembly elections, he felt a big disappointment. Despite his best efforts, he could not get the CM’s chair again and he was made Deputy. Had to be satisfied with the post of CM. But, despite this, he is in a much better position than Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray, who have lost everything in the assembly elections. This year was also very bad for BSP supremo Mayawati and Naveen Patnaik. While Mayawati suffered a setback in the Lok Sabha elections, Naveen Patnaik had to face defeat in the Odisha Assembly elections and his government also lost.
Sharad Pawar remained confined to Baramati only
2024 was a disappointment for veteran Maharashtra leader Sharad Pawar. Before the Lok Sabha elections, the leaders of Mahavikas Aghadi were in shock due to the breakup of Shiv Sena and NCP, but when the results of Lok Sabha elections came, everyone became a victim of misunderstanding and the reality came out in the assembly elections. After the victory of daughter Supriya Sule on Baramati seat in the Lok Sabha elections, father Sharad Pawar felt that now he will just dispose of his nephew Ajit Pawar. But the nephew played such a game with BJP that it became the biggest game ever played in politics with Sharad Pawar. Nephew Ajit Pawar defeated his uncle Sharad Pawar in the assembly elections in such a way that uncle has only saved his stronghold of Baramati, but by winning in his assembly constituency, Ajit Pawar has made a dent there too.
Uddhav Thackeray is nowhere left
This year has been very disappointing for Uddhav Thackeray and his party. Uddhav wanted to become the chief ministerial face of Mahavikas Aghadi in the 2024 assembly elections, but Sharad Pawar cheated him. Declaring him the face of the post of CM was acceptable neither to Sharad Pawar nor to Rahul Gandhi. Like Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray has also saved the Worli seat of his son Aditya Thackeray, but if Raj Thackeray’s candidate had not cut the votes there, it would have been difficult for Aditya to win. This is a different matter, Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray lost his very first election. Now the condition of both Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar has become similar. Now with these two, there is some hope from BMC elections, otherwise it seems as if they are nowhere.
2024 gave a big blow to Mayawati
The condition of BSP is very bad today. The party is losing elections one by one. While BSP’s performance was not good in the 2022 UP Assembly elections, it was able to win only one seat and its condition was worse than Congress. Congress had got two seats. So the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were even more disappointing for BSP. She could not win even one of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP. Like 2014, it again came to zero.
There was never anyone who could compete with Mayawati in Dalit politics, the position she achieved was not achieved by many. But there is also a big truth that his politics seems to be almost ending. Not only were the results of the Lok Sabha elections disappointing for him, the results of the by-elections of 9 assembly seats in UP gave him an even bigger shock. In the by-elections, BSP candidates reached the fifth position on two seats, while Chandrashekhar’s party candidates stood at the third position. Mayawati also deployed nephew Akash Anand on the front, but BSP was of no benefit. At the same time, the health of BSP does not seem to be improving due to the way Mayawati is acting amid the ongoing controversy over Ambedkar issue. By continuously attacking Congress, Mayawati is also benefiting BJP. There is no hope for the party in the future due to the current politics of BSP. 2024 was very disappointing for Mayawati and BSP. It is expected that BSP will change its strategy in 2025 and the days ahead will be better for them.
A comeback seems impossible for Naveen Patnaik
2024 was very bad for Naveen Patnaik, who ruled Odisha for years. He suffered a major setback in the Odisha Assembly elections held this year. The same BJP with which he was seen for ten years ousted him from power in Odisha. Now it does not seem that BJD will be able to return to power in Odisha. If seen from this perspective, 2024 proved to be the worst year for Naveen Patnaik.
Mehbooba Mufti’s politics is also on the verge of ruin
After the abolition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the politics of both Abdullah family and Mufti family had almost reached the same turning point, but when National Conference hoisted the flag of victory in the 2024 assembly elections and came to power, Mehbooba Mufti’s party, like PDP, is almost ruined. Mehbooba Mufti, who once became the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir with the help of BJP, has reached political margins in 2024. At the same time, looking at the way Omar Abdullah is running the government, it seems that it will be difficult for PDP to stand now. If a miracle happens then that is a different matter.
These too got ruined
Not only this, many other leaders also got ruined in 2024. Whose political career was ruined. This includes Jaganmohan Reddy, who was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pashupati Kumar Paras, who became a minister at the Center after ruling the Lok Janshakti Party, and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal. Whatever may be the future of these leaders, at present their politics is in disarray.
