Ranchi, September 18 (IANS) The Modi cabinet has passed the ‘One Nation-One Election’ proposal on Wednesday. Now this bill will be presented in the House. Many reactions have come from the ruling and opposition parties regarding this. Jharkhand BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shah Dev also expressed his views on this issue.
Pratul Shah Dev said, “One Nation One Election was also on the agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Now the central government has approved its proposal. ‘One Nation-One Election’ will save a huge amount of time and resources and will also speed up development work.”
He further said, “The committee formed under the leadership of former President Ram Nath Kovind had submitted its report of thousands of pages to the central government in March itself. The committee had held extensive discussions with the concerned people across the country on this issue.”
Pratul Shah further said, “It is true that elections are held in some state or region of the country all the time. Development work is hampered due to the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct. ‘One Nation-One Election’ will solve this problem. ‘One Nation-One Election’ will prove to be a very important step in the election reform process. There is a possibility of presenting and discussing the Kovind Committee report in the House in the coming session. This is the Modi government, which definitely does what it says.”
It is known that the Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of ‘One Nation-One Election’ on Wednesday. The Union Cabinet has approved the report of the committee headed by Ram Nath Kovind. The report has suggested that the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections should be held simultaneously in the country. Apart from this, the committee has recommended that the local body elections should also be held soon after the completion of Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.
PM Modi praised former President of the country Ram Nath Kovind for leading this initiative and consulting with various parties during the entire process. He said that this is an important step towards making our democracy even more vibrant and participatory.
