Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has retaliated at critics, especially West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who termed the recent Mahakumbh event in Prayagraj as “death Aquarius” due to the alleged mismanagement.
Adityanath said that the event was actually “Mrityunjay Mahakumbh”, and he emphasized its success despite the challenges.
In a special interview with ANI, the UP CM claimed that the West Bengal government is frightened by the huge influx of devotees. From Bengal to Prayagraj, from 13 January to 26 February, 50,000 to 100,000 pilgrims were coming daily.
He criticized the negative comments of opposition parties including Congress, RJD and Samajwadi Party and called them “insult to India’s faith” and “appeasement”.
UP CM said, “50,000 to 100,000 devotees used to visit Prayagraj every day from Bengal from 13 January to 26 February. West Bengal government was scared to see the crowd because their railway stations and airports were full of people going to Prayagraj … whether it is West Bengal government, Congress, RJD or Samajwadi Party, whatever he has said about Mahakumbh is an example of their appeasement of the Mahakumbh. It has been proved that it was Mrityunjaya Mahakumbh. “
UP CM’s response came after Banerjee criticized the system of program, especially after a stampede incident in which many people died. Adityanath, while updating the investigation, said that a judicial commission has been formed and is working as per the directions of the High Court and the Supreme Court.
Yogi Adityanath said, “A judicial commission has been formed for this. The High Court and the Supreme Court have directed and the Commission is working accordingly. We gave a month’s time, but the High Court asked to extend the time. So we are moving forward according to the same time. Will grow. “
It is noteworthy that 30 people were killed in a stampede that took place on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya bath on January 29 in Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. Despite the challenges, the Mahakumbh festival achieved a record -breaking success, in which more than 60 crore devotees took a holy dip at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.
Yogi Adityanath credited this success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that during 45 holy days more than 66 crore devotees took a dip in the holy Triveni. CM Yogi further said that only those people who have visited Kumbh can understand the real meaning of Kumbh.
Adityanath, defending the success and scale of this gathering, described it as a victory of faith in adversity, while judicial inquiry into the circumstances related to the number of casualties.
