Three criminals who attacked police post with grenade in Gurdaspur district of Punjab killed in encounter

Pilibhit, 23 December (IANS). There has been news of an encounter by a joint team of UP Police and Punjab Police against the accused who threw a bomb at a police post in Gurdaspur, Punjab. All three criminals were killed in the firing that took place during the police encounter.

This encounter took place in Puranpur of Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. All three criminals have been seriously injured due to the firing in the police encounter, and have been sent to CHC Puranpur for treatment, where the news of their death came to light.

This encounter took place when the police had laid siege to arrest the accused. Police have recovered 2 rifles, 2 Glock pistols as well as a huge quantity of cartridges from the injured criminals.

Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav wrote on social media platform Who had fired on the police party. This terrorist module is involved in grenade attacks on police establishments in the border areas of Punjab.”

He further wrote, “The encounter took place between the joint police teams of Pilibhit and Punjab under the jurisdiction of PS Puranpur, Pilibhit and three members of the module involved in the grenade attack on a police post in Gurdaspur. The injured persons were taken for immediate treatment.” “Investigation is underway to uncover the entire terrorist module.”

Actually, this case is related to the grenade attack on a police post in Punjab, which was the seventh attack in a month. Khalistan Zindabad Force had taken responsibility for this attack. According to the information, the attackers reached the police post in an auto and fled after throwing a grenade.

The names of the three criminals are said to be Gurvinder Singh, Virendra Singh alias Ravi and Jasan Preet Singh alias Pratap Singh. These three accused are residents of Gurdaspur district of Punjab.

Khalistan Zindabad Force had claimed responsibility for the grenade attack on Bakshiwala police post in Kalanaur, Punjab on the night of 18 December by posting it on social media. In the post, the organization said that the attack was carried out by them under the leadership of Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh Jammu and the supervision of Bhai Jaswinder Singh Bagi alias Manu Agwan.

The post also mentioned that the aim of the attack was to respond to those speaking derogatory and wrong things about Sikhs not only in Punjab but also in other states. Khalistan Zindabad Force also threatened to warn people who speak ill against the Sikh community through such attacks in future.

After the grenade attack on the police post, Punjab Police came into full action. After this attack, the National Security Agency (NIA) had issued an alert of a major terrorist attack in the state. Due to this, NIA had raided eight places in different areas of Punjab. During these raids, important inputs related to the terrorist attack were received, which were handed over to the Punjab Police.

Based on these inputs, Punjab Police moved to UP in search of the attackers. During this time, an encounter took place with a joint team of Punjab and UP Police in Pilibhit district of UP, in which the police faced the attackers. In this encounter, three accused died due to bullet injuries.
