Pune, October 24 (IANS). Rapid arrests are going on in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddiqui. In this connection, three people were arrested from Pune late on Wednesday evening.
In fact, former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui was shot dead by three people in Bandra on October 12. The NCP leader was attacked when he was near the office of his son Zeeshan Siddiqui. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang has taken the responsibility of his murder. Police have arrested many people in this case. In this connection, three more people have been arrested from Pune in Maharashtra.
The arrested accused are residents of Pune. They have been identified as Rupesh Rajendra Mohol (22), resident of Shivne, Karan Rahul Salve (19) and Shivam Arvind Kohar (20), resident of Uttam Nagar.
Earlier on Wednesday, Mumbai Crime Branch had arrested a person from Kaithal, Haryana. The name of the arrested accused is said to be Amit alias Nathi, who is a resident of Bata village of Kalayat. Several criminal cases are already registered against Amit.
According to the information, Zeeshan Akhtar has been identified as the fourth main accused in the Baba murder case. Zeeshan was giving instructions from outside to the other three shooters to kill Baba. He is absconding. Amit is accused of hosting the accused Jashin Akhtar by renting a house in Karnal. Only two months before the Baba Siddiqui murder case, both the accused had lived together for more than 15 days. Considering the seriousness of this matter, the police has started investigating other connections of the accused.
It is noteworthy that on October 19, Mumbai Police had suspended the security guard accompanying Baba Siddiqui in the murder case. Constable Shyam Sonawane, posted for the security of Baba Siddiqui, did not take any action during the incident. According to the police, constable Shyam Sonawane neither tried to stop the accused nor save Baba Siddiqui. Internal investigation is also going on in this matter.
