This changed in new income tax bill
The new Income Tax bill has been replaced by the word ‘last year’ mentioned in the Income Tax Act, 1961. Also, the concept of the assessment year has been abolished.
The concept of last year changed
Currently, for the income earned in the previous year (2023–24), the tax is paid in the year (2024–25). The concept of last year and assessment year has been removed in this new bill and only tax year has been introduced under the simplified bill.
