According to media reports, the accused has been identified as an officer of the Merchant Navy, named Anuj Singh. Last night Anuj was going somewhere in his car. Shahana was walking on the footpath in Gudiya Pada area. In such a situation, Anuj hit Shahana with his SUV car. Anuj did not realize this and the car dragged Shahana for a long distance.

According to PTI, the accident happened at 10 pm on Tuesday night. On getting information about the accident, Anuj immediately stopped the car and took Shahana to the hospital. But Shahana died during treatment in the hospital. The police was informed about the incident. The police has taken Anuj’s car into custody and started action.
Police are investigating
To find out whether Anuj was drunk at the time of the accident or not, his blood sample has been taken. Its report has not come out yet. The police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code and the investigation is ongoing.
