New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS) An official statement gave information about the US-India two plus two intersessional talks. It was told that during the meeting bilateral strategic and defense priorities as well as regional and global issues were discussed.
Officials from the Ministries of External Affairs and Defence and the US Departments of State and Defence participated in the two plus two intersessional talks on Monday.
In a post, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “India and the United States held talks on Monday between officials from the Indian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence and the US Departments of State and Defense. The discussions covered regional and global issues as well as bilateral strategic and security issues.”
Earlier on September 13, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a meeting with a delegation of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) in the national capital Delhi.
The delegation was led by Deputy Chief Executive Officer Nisha Biswal.
The delegation included US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti and Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Brendan Lynch.
According to the Finance Ministry, the discussions focused on strengthening economic cooperation between India and the US, with a special focus on investment opportunities in India.
During the talks, DFC representatives acknowledged India’s significant potential as a major destination for investment.
He highlighted favourable opportunities in various sectors and expressed commitment to further expand investment in the country.
Finance Minister Sitharaman also highlighted comprehensive and multi-sectoral cooperation between India and the US.
He said recent reforms and the country’s emerging investment climate have created a favourable environment for growth.
He highlighted India’s potential to enhance economic cooperation, especially in areas critical for sustainable growth and innovation.
