Ukraine asked for Tomahawk missile from America, President Zelensky confirmed

Kyiv, October 31 (IANS). Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that he has asked the US for long-range Tomahawk missiles.

Ukrainian President Zelensky said in a statement on Wednesday, commenting on recent media reports, that information on the request for Tomahawk missiles was kept confidential between Ukraine and the White House.

Zelensky said Ukraine has sought long-range missiles under its Victory plan, Xinhua news agency reported. It will use these missiles only when Russia continues to escalate the conflict.

He further said, “These missiles are only for self-defense.”

Earlier this week, Western media reported that Zelensky had sought Tomahawk missiles from the US as part of his Victory Plan nuclear package.

According to local media reports, Tomahawk missiles have a range of about 2,400 kilometers, which is much higher than the current missiles Ukraine possesses.

Earlier, the President of South Korea and President of Ukraine Zelensky had strongly condemned North Korea-Russia military cooperation.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol had said that South Korea would not ignore the deepening military ties between Pyongyang and Moscow. He vowed to take ‘phased action’ in response to growing security threats.

At the same time, Zelensky expressed gratitude for South Korea’s continued support, including the decision to send a government delegation to Kiev. He said Ukraine would soon send a delegation to South Korea for further coordination.

Let us tell you that Seoul and Washington have been claiming that North Korea has sent its troops to Russia.

The chief of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) confirmed on Monday that North Korean troops have been deployed in the Kursk region on Russia’s western border.
