New BJP President: In view of the upcoming assembly elections 2027 and Lok Sabha elections 2029, the Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified the preparations to strengthen the organization in Uttar Pradesh. This state has always been politically important for the party, and after not getting the expected demonstration in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is now making a strategy to enter the field with new energy.
Making a big change in the state organization, the BJP has started discussing about the appointment of a new state president. According to sources, better coordination with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be given importance in the appointment of the new president, as was seen in 2022 at the time of the appointment of Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary.
Discussion of names for leadership intensifies
The names of several senior leaders are in discussion regarding the post of BJP state president. Among them, an aggressive style like former state president Laxmikant Bajpayee and a face with leadership capacity like Keshav Prasad Maurya are being searched. The names that are being discussed prominently include former MP Harish Dwivedi, Union Minister BL Verma, Srikant Sharma, Vijay Bahadur Pathak, Vidyasagar Sonkar and Amarpal Sharma. At the same time, former Deputy Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma is also being told in the race. He has recently been in the headlines due to renaming his Tughlaq Lane residence to ‘Swami Vivekananda Marg’.
Party’s close watch on the caste equation
After the success of SP’s ‘PDA’ (Backward, Dalit, Minority) alliance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP can now make OBC or Dalit state president as part of a counter -strategy. In this episode, the names of Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh, Union Minister BL Verma and Waterpower Minister Swatantra Dev Singh are discussed. Both Dharampal and BL Verma come from the Lodhi community, which has a significant effect in Bundelkhand and Ruhelkhand regions.
At the same time, the party can also hand over a Brahmin leader to strengthen the Brahmin vote bank. The names of Harish Dwivedi and Dinesh Sharma are being considered from this class.
Churning on Dalit faces too
The BJP is also considering some old and influential faces to help the Dalit community. Among them, the names of former MPs Ramshankar Katheria, Vinod Sonkar, Neelam Sonkar and former MLC Vidyasagar Sonkar are coming out. The name of one of them can also be chosen for the cut of Akhilesh Yadav’s PDA formula.
The BJP leadership may soon take a final decision on the name of the new president, as strengthening the organizational structure in time has become the top priority of the party.
