UP By-Election 2024: Congress understood this move of Akhilesh and walked away from the alliance! ,

UP By-Election 2024: By-elections have been announced on the assembly seats vacant after Lok Sabha elections – 2024. Political excitement regarding this is at its peak. Bharatiya Janata Party, Samajwadi Party and Congress have fielded their candidates, but Congress has kept distance from the by-elections. Many speculations are being made regarding this.

Under the India Alliance, Congress and Samajwadi Party had contested the Lok Sabha elections together, both the parties got unexpected success. Out of total 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP, SP won 37 and Congress won 6 seats. Under the alliance, SP had given 17 seats to Congress in UP, out of which Congress’s performance has been better on 12 seats. In such a situation, the increasing popularity of Congress in UP is also a big reason due to which SP distanced itself from Congress in the by-elections or rather, did not give it the number of seats it was asking for. He is afraid that his vote bank might go to the Congress side. Dissatisfaction was also seen in the leadership due to Congress not getting respectable seats.

That’s why I stepped aside

At the same time, Congress had asked for five seats for the UP by-elections, all of them were in BJP’s account, but Samajwadi Party left only two seats, Khair and Ghaziabad, on all the remaining seats, SP has already fielded its candidates. Congress was displeased with this and kept itself away from the by-elections. According to party sources, SP did not follow the coalition dharma for the by-elections, it did not hold any discussion with Congress regarding the seat, due to which there was displeasure in the party high command.

Congress does not want to take risk

Apart from this, just two days before the nomination, Samajwadi Party talked about leaving the Phulpur seat for Congress, although this seat also did not suit it, because SP had already fielded a Muslim candidate here. In such a situation, the Congress high command does not want to take any risk. Actually, Congress wanted to field its District President Suresh Yadav here. Congress believes that if it replaces the SP candidate now and fields its own candidate, its minority-friendly image will be in danger. SP may benefit from this, but Congress is expected to suffer a big political loss.
