UP Bye-Election: The case of assault on Sadar MLA Yogesh Verma in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh seems to be turning into a Kurmi versus Thakur case. If this matter progresses further, its direct impact can be seen in the upcoming assembly by-elections. At the same time, Samajwadi Party also seems to be adding fuel to this fire.

There was a dispute between Sadar MLA Yogesh Verma and Bar Association President Awadhesh Singh regarding the election of Cooperative Bank in Lakhimpur Kheri. During this, Awadhesh Singh had slapped MLA Yogesh Verma in the presence of police and administration. Not only this, his supporters held him by the collar and threw him on the ground and abused him. The video of this case has gone viral on social media.

At the same time, the MLA’s supporters reached the district headquarters and surrounded the DM office, raising slogans of ‘Down with the police-administration’ and demanding action, but till now no action has been taken in this matter. At the same time, MLA Yogesh Verma is calling this incident an insult to the entire Kurmi community.

Samajwadi Party is adding fuel to the political fire in Lakhimpur regarding Thakur vs Kurmi. SP chief and former CM Akhilesh Yadav said that Yogesh Verma belongs to the backward class, hence the police is not taking any action against the accused. It is believed that SP is trying to pursue its politics in the by-elections through this issue.

These seats are important

Let us tell you that by-elections are going to be held on 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Among these, there are four seats on which Kurmi voters prove to be important for victory. These seats include Katehari, Majhwan, Phulpur and Sisamau.

– Lalji Verma was MP from Katehri of Ambedkar Nagar, now he has become MP from Ambedkar Nagar. The population of Kurmi and Brahmin in this seat is almost equal. BJP has started trying to solve the Kurmi and Brahmin equation here, however, there may be a setback here after the Lakhimpur case.

– Madhyavan seat of Mirzapur is very important. Anupriya Patel is the MP from Mirzapur here. If we talk about the equation of Majhwan seat, the population of Kurmi is highest here after Brahmin, Bind and Dalit. SP has made Jyoti Bind its candidate here. Whereas, Ajay Rai is in the fray from Congress.

Phulpur seat of Prayagraj is very important. Here BJP has been sailing with the help of Kurmi voters. Here SP has fielded Mustafa Siddiqui. If there is resentment among the Kurmi community then BJP may suffer loss here.

Sisamau assembly of Kanpur also has a population of around 20 thousand. These can play an important role in the victory or defeat of any candidate. However, the number of Muslims is more on this seat. From here, SP has fielded Naseem Solanki, wife of Irfan Solanki.
