UP News: The political future of Bahujan Samaj Party seems to be in danger due to the results of by-elections held for nine seats of Uttar Pradesh Assembly. It is a distant dream for BSP to open its account in the by-elections. Even the deposits of BSP candidates have been confiscated on six out of nine seats. Western Uttar Pradesh was considered the stronghold of BSP. But here the candidates of Chandrashekhar Azad’s party got votes from BSP. One thing has become clear from this that BSP is losing its support base election after election.
If this continues like this then one day BSP will remain just a name in the history of the party. Mayawati will soon have to take concrete steps to save BSP from continuous election defeats and slipping support base. When parties like BJP and SP are following the path of alliance in Uttar Pradesh. So BSP will also have to tie itself in the bond of alliance to save its existence.
BSP’s position in UP by-elections
In the by-elections of nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party got six seats. One seat has gone to BJP’s ally RLD. Whereas SP has got two seats. If we look at the previous election results, SP has lost two seats. Whereas BJP gained three seats. At the same time, BSP was disappointed as always. Forget getting seats, BSP could not even get votes like in 2022.
In the by-election, BSP got only 1099 votes on Kundarki seat, 3248 votes on Mirapur seat and 1400 votes on Sisamau seat. BSP’s performance was very poor on other seats also. The way BSP was defeated in this by-election had never happened before. BSP has captured Kundarki seat twice. Meerapur seat has also been in BSP’s court. It is clear from the results of the by-elections that even the core votes of BSP are leaving it and looking for another option.
Need for change in the working style of the organization
The results of the by-elections held in Uttar Pradesh have shown the mirror to BSP. If the party has to survive in the future, then Mayawati needs to change the working style of the organization. BSP organization is becoming weak in the entire state. Which is affecting the party’s performance in the elections. Concrete efforts are needed to strengthen the organization. Most of the senior leaders of BSP are not active on the political field. In such a situation, it will be difficult to maintain the existence of BSP without changes in the organization.
We will have to leave the path of walking alone.
In the 2022 elections, BSP got only Rasra assembly seat of Ballia. At the same time, in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024, BSP was completely defeated. In such a situation, BSP will now have to think that going alone will only worsen its political fate. At the same time, when parties like Bharatiya Janata Party, Samajwadi Party and Congress are walking on the path of alliance, then why is BSP avoiding it?
To overcome the declining support base and to have a political future, BSP will have to change its decision of not forging an alliance with any party. BSP may not get power due to being tied to the alliance. But the political existence of the party will definitely be saved. Assembly elections are to be held in Uttar Pradesh in the year 2027. Before this there are elections in Delhi and Bihar. In such a situation, if Mayawati does coalition politics then it is possible that BSP will return to politics again.
