Opposition parties created a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, claiming that last week CISF personnel had replaced marshals inside the House, which was rejected by both the Chairman and the government.
The proceedings were adjourned till 2 pm due to the uproar by the Congress and other opposition members.
Soon after the papers and reports listed during the Zero Hour (morning session), Deputy Chairman Harivansh regretted that the Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge shared a letter written to him with the media.
In a letter written on Friday, Kharge had said that CISF personnel are deployed in the House and they are preventing opposition leaders from exercising their democratic rights.
Harivansh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju denied Kharge’s claim and said that the personnel posted in the House were related to parliamentary security.
Rijiju also said that Kharge is trying to mislead the House. House leader JP Nadda said that the opposition is spreading “chaos”.
Apart from this, the proceedings of Lok Sabha were also postponed till 2 pm. The Lok Sabha could not work even in the midst of the opposition’s uproar.
The proceedings of Parliament began on Tuesday, in which Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid tribute to the following former MPs, condoling the death of Tilakdhari Prasad Singh, Ram Rati Bind and Shibu Soren in the House.
Earlier, MPs received Prime Minister Modi at the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting during the day. Members passed a resolution and praised the “extraordinary leadership” displayed by Prime Minister Modi during the Indian Armed Forces and Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev.
Members of the India alliance protested at the Makar Gate on the issue of Balhar SIR. This issue has been at the forefront of discussions and the proceedings of both houses of Parliament have been repeatedly postponed in the last few days.
