Raipur, 11 February (IANS). In the urban body elections of Chhattisgarh, a crowd of voters is being seen at polling stations since Tuesday morning. Voting continues peacefully in many cities of the state including the capital Raipur. On this important day, Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey also exercised his franchise, after which he spoke to the media and inspired voters.
Meenal Choubey said, “Voting brings a lot of enthusiasm in the public now and I have been encouraging voters for voting for ten consecutive days. I have received a lot of blessings from the public. I appeal to you all. I would like to leave to vote. To give an honest government to the city, it is necessary to vote for the city to get out of the house. Bihari Vajpayee ji had said, ‘The darkness will come out, the sun will come out, the lotus will blossom.’ After 15 years, the lotus is going to bloom again in Raipur Municipal Corporation. “
In this election, voters have to vote for the posts of Municipal President, Councilors, Municipal Corporation Mayor, and other local bodies. The Election Commission has made extensive arrangements to run the polling process smoothly, including adequate security arrangements at polling stations. Various political parties have also campaigned fiercely for their candidates, causing an atmosphere of enthusiasm among the voters.
Apart from this, the polling process for urban body elections in Bemetara district has started from 8 am. Voting is being held for 9 Nagar Panchayats and 1 municipality of the district in this election.
A large number of elderly voters have already started arriving at polling stations. A total of 171 polling stations have been set up in the district, where voters can exercise their franchise.
The total population of urban bodies of Bemetara district is 82,378, out of which 75,106 voters are registered. Of these, the number of male voters is 36,157 and the number of female voters is 38,529.
Also, Durg Collector and District Election Officer Richa Prakash Chaudhary cast his vote in JRD School polling station, booth number 120. After casting the vote, she came out of the polling station and showed ink on her finger. He appealed to the citizens of the municipal area to vote in large numbers.
