Bihar By Election 2024 : The Jan Suraj Party, newly formed by election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishore, had asked the Supreme Court to postpone the by-elections in Bihar, which has been rejected. Along with this, Prashant Kishore has been severely reprimanded. He had referred to Chhath Puja during the hearing.
The Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan on Monday heard the petition filed by Jan Suraj Party demanding postponement of the elections. The bench reprimanded Jan Suraj and said that no other party has any problem regarding the voting date, only you have a problem. You are a new political party, you need to understand the problems.
At the same time, senior advocate Abhishek Manu, appearing for the petitioner, told Singhvi that the Election Commission has changed the voting dates in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Kerala on the basis of religious events, so why can’t it be changed here. He argued that there is no other festival as important as Chhath Puja in Bihar, yet such behavior was done in the by-elections.
Let us tell you that for the first time, Prashant Kishore led Jan Suraj Party has announced candidates in all the four constituencies. Tickets have been given to Sushil Kushwaha from Ramgarh, Kiran Singh from Tarari, Mohammad Amjad from Belaganj and Jitendra Paswan from Imamganj. Earlier, former Deputy Army Chief Lieutenant General (retired) Shri Krishna Singh was fielded from Tarari and Khilafat Hussain was to be made the candidate from Belaganj.
Let us tell you that by-elections will be held on four assembly seats of Bihar – Ramgarh, Tarari, Belaganj and Imamganj on November 13 and the counting of votes will be done on November 23.
