We are always against encounters: ST Hasan

हम हमेशा से ही एनकाउंटर के खिलाफ: एसटी हसन

Lucknow, September 24 (IANS) On the Sultanpur encounter case, Samajwadi Party leader ST Hasan said on Monday that we have always been against encounters. There is a judicial process in our country under which strict action is taken against the accused.

The SP leader said, “Under the police and judicial system, the accused is first arrested. After the trial, the accused is punished by the court. But now complaints are being received that the accused are arrested from their homes and killed in encounters. Some are shot in the leg, some in the head, and some in the stomach.”

ST Hasan said, “Such encounters should be investigated to see if they are really encounters. We are strongly against the way the constitution and courts are being tampered with. My simple question is that if the courts and the constitution will not survive, then how will our democracy survive?”

Referring to Akhilesh Yadav, he said, “Samajwadi Party stands with every oppressed person, whoever is subjected to injustice, Samajwadi Party will stand with him. Our leader Akhilesh ji stands with him. We do not see who was a Thakur, who was a Muslim, who was a Hindu? We see humans and our job is to help humans, but when encounters are done on the basis of caste, then it is natural for such questions to arise.”

Let us tell you that UP STF killed Mangesh Yadav and Anuj Pratap Singh in an encounter on Monday in the robbery case at a bullion trader’s shop. There was a reward of Rs 1 lakh on Anuj. He was absconding since the robbery. The police was searching for him for many days. STF traced his location in Achalganj of Unnao and killed him in an encounter.

Anuj Pratap Singh was a resident of Amethi. He is said to be the mastermind of the Sultanpur robbery case. He is said to be the closest henchman of the main accused of the incident, Vipin Singh. Vipin is also a resident of Amethi. Vipin has surrendered before the police. Anuj Pratap Singh was also involved in the robbery case of Gujarat along with Vipin.

Two cases were registered against Anuj who was killed in the encounter. One of these cases was registered in Sultanpur and the other in Gujarat. Anuj was the first to enter the jewellery shop. Anuj threatened the shopkeeper Bharat Soni and his son sitting in the showroom with a pistol.
