Former Pakistan Foreign Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged India to talk to India to discuss the issue of Kashmir, Indus Water Treaty and Terrorism. He says that both countries can solve these issues only through extensive talks. At the same time, he has warned that if the suspension is not removed from the Indus Water Treaty, then Pakistan will have no option but to war.
According to the news of the ‘Express Tribune’ newspaper, Bilawal, who is leading the parliamentary delegation on a visit to Western countries, made this comment in an interview to German broadcaster ‘Deutache Wale Urdu’ during his visit to Brussels on Sunday (June 15, 2025). He said, ‘All pending issues between Pakistan and India can be solved through comprehensive talks. If India does not come to the table for talks, then it will not be in their interest.
The former Foreign Minister warned that any attempt by India to stop water supply to Pakistan would be considered a threat to existence, which would have no alternative to Pakistan other than war. A day ago, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged the international community to bring India to the conversation table and ensure permanent peace in South Asia through comprehensive dialogue, including Kashmir issues, water issues and solutions of terrorism.
India has made it clear that it will talk with Pakistan only on the return and terrorism of PoK (Pakistan -occupied Kashmir). The comprehensive talks began in 2003, when Pakistan was ruled by General Pervez Musharraf. It had eight components, which used to cover all controversial issues between the two countries. The talks derailed after the 2008 Mumbai attacks and has not resumed properly.
The PPP president said that Pakistan does not want war, but it will not compromise on its national security or water rights. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reiterated that Pakistan would continue to advocate peace, but there can be no compromise on issues like water security. The tension between India and Pakistan has increased after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. On the night of 6 May, India made accurate attacks on the terrorist structure in Pakistan and PoK. Pakistan tried to attack Indian military bases on 8, 9 and 10 May. The Indian side strongly responded to the Pakistani action. On May 10, it was agreed to stop military action after negotiations between the Director General of Military Operations of the two sides.
