Vinesh-Bajrang join Congress: Olympian wrestler Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat finally joined Congress ahead of Haryana Assembly 2024. Both the wrestlers took membership of Congress at the party headquarters in Delhi on Friday. During this, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary KC Venugopal welcomed Vinesh and Bajrang by wearing the party’s sash. After joining hands, wrestler-turned-leader Vinesh Phogat addressed the media and thanked the top leadership of the Congress. She said that in bad times, one comes to know who is one’s own. I hope to live up to your expectations. During this, Vinesh also took a dig at the BJP.
When we were being dragged on the streets…
Vinesh Phogat said that today I feel very proud that I have joined a party which is ready to fight for women from the streets to the Parliament. She said that when we were being dragged on the streets, all the parties except BJP supported us. From today I am starting a new innings. The fight that was there is going on, we will win that fight too. We will not be afraid and will not step back. I stand with every woman who finds herself helpless. If I wanted, I could have left wrestling at Jantar Mantar.
Investment attacked BJP
As soon as she joined Congress, Vinesh Phogat launched sharp attacks on BJP. Phogat said that BJP IT cell spread the lie that our career is over. We don’t want to play national, so I showed them that I played national games and Olympics, but God had some different plans before the final match.

Bajrang Punia also made a series of allegations against the BJP after joining the Congress. Bajrang said that the BJP IT cell says that our only aim is to do politics. We had invited the BJP and their women MPs to join the protest but they did not stand with the daughters. Congress stood with us. Other parties stood against the injustice done to the daughters. Will Bajrang contest the elections?
Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat joined the Congress on Friday. Before joining the party, both the wrestlers met Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi. After this, Vinesh and Bajrang joined hands at the Congress National Headquarters. If sources are to be believed, Bajrang Punia will not contest the assembly elections, the party is likely to appoint him as the co-chairman of the campaign committee of Haryana Congress for the assembly elections, while Vinesh Phogat will contest the elections. Phogat’s seat may also be finalized this evening. Earlier on Wednesday, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia met Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the national capital.
