What is prejudice about the outer wall of Sambhal Mosque: High Court

In the case of painting of Jama Masjid in Sambhal, the Allahabad High Court on Monday asked the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to tell especially to tell what is the bias about the painting of the outer wall of the mosque?

This directive was given by Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal on the objection raised by the Masjid Committee. The Masjid Committee has urged to paint the outer wall of the mosque, on which no clear answer has been given by the ASI.

Masjid committee counsel, senior advocate SFA Naqvi said that the ASI is only talking about the wall inside the mosque.

The court directed the District Magistrate of Sambhal to submit the next date of hearing of the agreement between the administration and the mosque committee in 1927 on March 12, 2025. Under this agreement, the mosque was handed over to ASI.

Earlier, a report submitted by ASI stated that ceramic painted on the inner wall of the mosque and there is no need for paint.

The court then directed ASI to clean dust and grass from the mosque premises.
