Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said in response to a comment from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy during the Question Hour in the House on Tuesday that he is not a fish and vegetarian.
Asked the supplementary questions related to the Ministry of fisheries, animal husbandry and dairy in the House, Rudy said that 95 crore people in the country eat fish and one crore people produce fish.
The BJP MP further said, “President, don’t know whether you eat fish or not.” To this, Birla said, “I don’t eat. I am a vegetarian. ”
While answering the supplementary question of Rudy, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said that after the formation of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, fish yield has increased by more than 100 percent in the last decade.
