Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday warned people against “forgetting the days of Congress rule”, saying that before 2014, blackout was a common incident across the country and if the Congress was in power today, it would have been common. The PM made this comment by laying the foundation stone of the development project to increase the capacity of a power plant in Yamunanagar, Haryana.
Prime Minister Modi said during the public meeting, “We should not forget the days of Congress rule- before 2014, when there was a Congress government, we have also seen the days when the whole country used to face blackout. If the Congress government was today, we would have been facing blackouts.”
Underlining the importance of electricity to ensure developed India, Prime Minister Modi explained how various energy sectors such as solar, coal and atoms will be used to facilitate power generation.
The Prime Minister said, “Electricity is going to play a huge role in the creation of developed India. That is why our government is working in all directions to increase the availability of electricity. Whether it is a forest nation-one grid, new coal power plants, solar energy, expansion of nuclear sector … Our effort is to increase power generation in the country … Electricity should not be a hindrance in nation building.”
He greeted people on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti.
He said, “Today is also the 135th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar ji. I wish all the countrymen a heartfelt greetings of Ambedkar Jayanti. Babasaheb’s vision and inspiration shows us the direction of traveling to a constant developed India. Yamunanagar is not just a city, it is also an important part of India’s industrial map. Brass to brass, steel, it strengthens the economy of India.”
He said, “For the third consecutive time in Haryana, the double speed of development is being seen due to the government. Haryana developed for developed India. This is our resolve. The development projects launched here are a living example of this. I congratulate the people of Haryana for these development projects.”
Talking about how the government wants to take Baba Saheb’s ideals forward, Prime Minister Modi said, “I am proud that our government is advancing Baba Saheb’s ideas. Baba Saheb Ambedkar described the development of industries as the path of social justice. Baba Saheb recognized the problem of small holdings in India.”
He further explained how Ambedkar also worked with Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, founder of BJP’s previous party Jana Sangh.
He said, “He used to say that Dalits do not have enough land for farming, so Dalits will benefit the most from industries … Babasaheb worked in the direction of industrialization in India with the country’s first Industries Minister Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.”
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of the new terminal at Hisar Airport and also flagged off the first commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya.
