Uttar Pradesh News Desk !!! The last assembly election of Uttar Pradesh was held in 2022. The term of the UP Assembly will also be completed in 2027. Votes will be cast on 403 seats of UP in 2027. However, now UP elections can be held 3 years earlier. The reason for this is the One Country One Election scheme of the Modi government.
One country, one election approved
Yesterday, the Modi cabinet has put its seal of approval on One Nation One Election. The committee headed by former President Ramnath Kovind presented the blueprint of One Nation One Election, which has also been approved by the Modi cabinet. In such a situation, if the dream of one country and one election comes true in Modi 3.0, then elections will be held in UP 3 years earlier. Let’s know how?
UP Vidhansabha will be dissolved 3 years earlier!
Under One Country One Election, the Modi government is preparing to hold Lok Sabha and state assembly elections simultaneously. If this is true, then the UP assembly elections will also be held along with the general elections. After 2027, the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are to be held in 2032. In such a situation, there is a gap of about two and a half years between the general elections and the UP elections. After the implementation of One Country One Election, the assembly elections of all the states will be held along with the Lok Sabha elections in 2029 and elections in UP will be held in 2029 instead of 2032.
The opposition protested
Apart from BJP, Mayawati’s Bahujan Samajwadi Party has also given the green signal to One Country One Election. However, the opposition camps have launched a campaign against it. The country’s second largest party Congress and the third largest party SP have turned their back on One Country One Election. While on one hand UP CM Yogi Adityanath is trying to make PM Modi’s dream of One Country One Election a reality, the state’s two major parties Congress and SP are against it.
Many states will be affected
One country one election will affect many states other than UP. The assembly of Bihar and Delhi will end next year. Elections will be held in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal in 2026. Apart from UP, elections will be held in Goa, Gujarat, Punjab, Manipur and Uttarakhand in 2027.
