Will BJP government fall in Manipur? Why did the allies withdraw their support?

Manipur News Desk!!! A big news has come out from Manipur. Conrad Sangma’s National People’s Party (NPP) withdrew its support to the BJP government. To control the violence that broke out in the state, the ally party NCP has taken this decision because of the Biren government sitting in the opposition. Now the big question is whether the BJP government will fall in Manipur? Three bodies, including that of a woman and two children, were recovered in Manipur on Friday. After this, protests by Maitai community started in the capital Imphal, which turned violent today. The protesters entered the houses of MLAs and ministers and created ruckus. After a lot of effort, the local police succeeded in removing the crowd.

NPP wrote letter to JP Nadda

The Conrad Sangma-led National People’s Party (NPP) on Sunday withdrew its support to the N Biren Singh-led government amid ongoing unrest in the northeastern state of Manipur. In an official letter sent to BJP national president JP Nadda, the NPP said the CM N Biren Singh-led government has completely failed to control communal violence and restore normalcy in the state.

Support withdrawn due to violence in Manipur

The letter also said that keeping in mind the current situation in Manipur, the NPP has decided to withdraw its support to the Biren Singh government with immediate effect. The NPP took this shocking decision when the ethnic conflict between the Kuki and Meitei communities has been going on in the state since May last year. The protests intensified after the bodies of women and children were recovered.

Know what will be the impact on Biren government?

From this data it can be understood whether the BJP government will fall or not if the NPP withdraws its support in Manipur. There are 60 assembly seats in the state and any party needs 31 seats for majority. In the 2022 elections, BJP won 32 seats and NCP won 7 seats. Five JDU MLAs later joined the BJP, taking the Biren government to 37 MLAs in the assembly. In such a situation, Biren Singh’s government will not fall due to withdrawal of NPP’s support.

Houses of ministers and MLAs were vandalized

The mob vandalized and set fire to the houses of ministers and MLAs. The protesters also blocked the road by burning tyres. In view of the raging violence, curfew was imposed in five districts from this evening and internet services were suspended for the next two days in seven districts – Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur.

Women demonstrated against violence

Meanwhile, the Maitai community has announced an indefinite strike. This strike will take place in Ima Kaithal market of West Imphal district. At the same time, after the kidnapping of 6 people and the discovery of dead bodies of 3, women from Lamlai village and Chalau village of Manipur staged a protest in Imphal East against the violence and tension in the state.
