How accurate is the exit poll in Haryana?
Talking about the last two assembly elections of Haryana, in 2014 most of the exit poll claims were proven true. BJP seemed to be winning in all the exit polls. BJP won in the final results also. BJP won 47 seats and Congress 15 seats in the state. After this, in the 2019 assembly elections also, BJP’s unilateral victory was announced in the exit polls. But BJP failed to touch the majority mark. In this election, BJP won 40 seats and Congress won 31 seats. In such a situation, BJP formed a coalition government with JJP which won 10 seats.
Track record of exit polls in Jammu and Kashmir
Assembly elections have been held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. After 2014, elections were to be held in 2019. But before this, the Central Government had withdrawn the statehood from Jammu and Kashmir by removing Article 370. Jammu and Kashmir has since been a Union Territory, where Governor’s rule has been in force for the last 5 years. However, the exit polls of the 2014 assembly elections proved to be true to a large extent. BJP had won 25 seats. During this period, Mehbooba Mufti’s party PDP won 28 seats and both the parties formed a coalition government in the state.
