New Delhi, September 3 (IANS). After Parliament, the battle over the ‘Waqf (Amendment) Bill-2024’ is now going on from the streets to the JPC meetings. Along with the opposition parties, many Muslim organizations of the country are also raising questions on the intentions of the Modi government regarding this bill. In response to the attacks by some Muslim organizations and opposition parties of the country, now the BJP has also prepared a counter strategy.
The party is trying to ensure that people associated with the Muslim community and especially those associated with the Wakf Board or having knowledge of Wakf matters go among the Muslim community and present the correct picture of the Wakf Amendment Act and the government’s intentions and these people should also present their views on the bill in the JPC meeting.
According to sources, BJP’s national organization general secretary BL Santosh held an important meeting in the party headquarters on Tuesday regarding this. Present and former presidents of Wakf Boards of many states of the country associated with BJP and experts on Wakf matters were called in the meeting.
Party’s National General Secretary and Minority Front in-charge Dushyant Gautam and BJP Minority Front National President Jamal Siddiqui were also present in the meeting on behalf of the party’s national team.
Uttarakhand Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams, Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board Chairman Sanawar Patel, Haryana Waqf Board Administrator Chaudhary Zakir Hussain, Shia religious leader and BJP Minority Front National Executive Member Maulana Habib Haider, BJP Minority Front National Executive Member and Waqf Affairs Expert Nisar Hussain, former Waqf Council Member Mohammad Haroon and some other important persons were also present in the meeting.
Gujarat Waqf Board chairman Mohsin Lokhandwala and former Himachal Pradesh Waqf Board chairman Mohammad Rajbali were also supposed to attend the meeting but due to some reasons, both of them could not attend the meeting.
According to sources, in the meeting, the top BJP leaders said that while other organisations and people are presenting their views in the JPC, the Muslim community associated with the BJP, especially the present and former chairmen, administrators and experts on Wakf matters associated with the Wakf Board, should also present their views in the JPC meeting.
It was also said in the meeting that the atmosphere of confusion and fear being created among the Muslim community regarding the Waqf Amendment Act should be stopped from spreading. The good intentions of the government should be told to the Muslim community, the benefits of this law should be counted and efforts should be made to tell and explain to them how beneficial this amendment is for poor and backward Muslims and Muslim women.
It is being told that all these people will hold discussions with scholars, influential and important people of the Muslim community as well as common Muslims across the country. This team will also go before the JPC and strongly support the bill.
