Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat met former Congress president and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Wednesday. There is speculation that the party may field both the star wrestlers in the Haryana Assembly elections.
However, till now the Congress is maintaining silence on whether Punia and Phogat can be fielded or not.
However, All India Congress Committee general secretary and Haryana in-charge Deepak Babaria said on Tuesday that there will be clarity on this by Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Congress released a photo of Gandhi with Phogat and Punia on its official X handle.

Let us inform you that Punia and Phogat were part of the protest against the sexual harassment allegations against former BJP MP and then Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in 2023.
The Congress Central Election Committee has finalised the names of candidates for 66 out of 90 seats till Tuesday. Although the names have not been announced yet, the list of Congress candidates will be released in a day or two.
Voting for the 90 assembly seats of Haryana will be held on October 5 and counting of votes will take place on October 8.
