A case of gang rape of a minor has come to light in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh. The shocking thing is that this crime was committed by a total of seven accused including six minor boys. According to the police, this incident took place on August 1 in Pathalgaon police station area of Jashpur district, when the victim, a resident of a nearby village of Surguja district, had gone to see a fair in the nearby market.
Giving information about this, the police said on Tuesday that 7 people including 6 minor boys gang-raped a 17-year-old girl in Jashpur district. According to the police, the age of six accused minor boys is between 16 and 17 years, while one accused is 18 years old.
Surguja Superintendent of Police Yogesh Patel said the incident took place on Sunday night and a case was registered when she reached the nearby Sitapur police station on Monday. “The victim, who lives in Surguja district, had gone to see a fair at a nearby weekly market under Jashpur district on Sunday. When she was returning home around 8 pm, the accused kidnapped her and dragged her into the forest and raped her,” the SP said.
The victim said that she knew one of the accused, after which the police traced the seven accused and arrested them. One of them is 18 years old while the others are minors, whose age is between 16 and 17 years. The police is also investigating the claims of the victim.
On Monday, the girl lodged a complaint in this regard at Sitapur police station (Surguja). Since the incident took place in Pathalgaon area of neighbouring Jashpur district, the Sitapur police station has registered a zero FIR in this regard, which will be handed over to the Jashpur police for further action.
