The girl had fallen into a 560 feet deep borewell
Kutch: An 18-year-old girl who fell into a borewell in Kanderai village of Bhuj taluka of Kutch district of Gujarat could not be saved. The administration team along with NDRF, Army, BSF, Gujarat Police, Fire Services Department were evacuated on Tuesday after more than 34 hours. After this the girl was taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead.

A girl had fallen into a 560 feet deep and 1 meter diameter borewell in Kandhrai, Bhuj in Kutch district. A girl from a laborer family from Rajasthan had fallen into a 560 feet deep borewell around 5.30 am on Monday morning. The victim was trapped at 490 feet. After several rescue attempts, the victim was pulled out of the borewell. However she could not survive.
The girl was rescued in the evening
Officials said that after the matter was detected, a rescue operation was launched with the help of various agencies. Officials said that the diameter of the borewell is one foot and since the girl was big and was trapped deep inside, the rescue operation was becoming difficult. The girl was pulled out of the borewell at 4 pm. “Unfortunately, the girl did not survive and was declared dead by doctors at GK General Hospital in Bhuj,” said A B Jadav, assistant collector and SDM, Bhuj.
The administration tried its best to save
The girl was pulled out using “hook technique”, the official said. An official of the State Water Supply and Sewage Board said the girl was rescued with the help of a makeshift device. “We prepared a temporary device with the help of a local driller,” he said. Multiple agencies were involved in the rescue operation. NDRF and Border Security Force (BSF) teams were engaged in the rescue operation along with Bhuj Municipality fire department personnel, local emergency response team, police and local administration officials.
