A fake currency printing factory operating from the office of an online garment store was busted in Gujarat’s Surat city. Four people have been arrested in the case, police said on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajdeep Nakum said the accused were allegedly inspired by actor Shahid Kapoor-starrer web series “Farzi”, which depicts a small-time conman who becomes rich by printing fake currency notes.
Surat SOG officials raided the office in Sarthana area on Saturday and arrested three people with fake notes worth Rs 1.20 lakh, a police release said. The fourth accused was arrested later. The release said the accused had rented office space in a commercial building under the guise of running an online garment business, but were allegedly printing fake notes on the premises. The SOG team kept a close watch on the office and the people working there and conducted a raid when the three accused were found printing fake notes there.
Acting on a confirmed information, the police team raided the office and busted a small fake currency printing factory by arresting Rahul Chauhan, Pawan Banode and Bhavesh Rathod, the release said. They recovered FICN worth Rs 1.20 lakh and printing equipment like foil papers, colour printer, printing ink, a lamination machine etc, the release said.
