Five people, including a mother and son, died due to drowning in different areas of Nalanda district. The incidents took place in Khudaganj, Noorsarai and Deepnagar police station areas. The police have conducted post-mortem of all the bodies and handed them over to the relatives and have started investigation. The first incident took place in Mustafapur village of Khudaganj police station area where a woman started drowning while washing utensils in Kurtia Ahara of the village. The son who went to save her also went into the deep water, due to which both mother and son died by drowning.
The deceased Satyendra Prasad has a 45-year-old wife Sunita Devi and son Santosh Kumar. After the incident, there was chaos in the family. On receiving the information, SHO Jaiprakash Narayan reached the spot and started investigating the case. In the second incident, 74-year-old Kameshwar Manjhi, who had gone to graze goats in Ahra Khandha of Daruara village of Nursarai police station area, died by drowning in the drain. Family members said that when he did not return till late evening, they started searching for him. This morning the body was found floating in the water. After this, the police was informed.
The third incident happened in Parmanand Bigha village of Nursarai police station area. Where a farmer died due to drowning while washing buffalo in Sashi river. The deceased is 31 year old Nitish Kumar, son of Jamindar Prasad. While in the fourth incident, sensation was created in the area when the body of a youth was found in Goithwa river of Mahanandpur village of Deepnagar police station area. The body of the youth could not be identified. Police has got the postmortem done and is keeping the body safely in Biharsharif hospital for identification.
