A family from Ahmedabad has donated 630 liters of blood so far. There are four members in the family who have donated blood more than 100 times. Has scored 16 half centuries.

Every year 1st October is celebrated as ‘National Voluntary Blood Donation Day’. On this occasion, the story of a family has come to light which is an example for the entire country. This family from Ahmedabad, Gujarat has donated 630 liters of blood so far. There are four members of the family who have donated blood more than 100 times so far, while 16 members have scored half-centuries.
According to a report in Times of India, a total of 27 members of the family of three brothers and one sister living in Manekbaug, Ahmedabad have done this together. The family says that they have donated a total of 1400 units of blood so far. Family member Dr Maulin Patel, who has donated blood more than 100 times, said, ‘One unit contains 450 ml of blood. Accordingly, we have donated 630 liters of blood.
There is good awareness regarding blood donation in Ahmedabad. It is also called the capital of blood donation. There are 130 people in the city who have donated blood more than 100 times. Two families have a special place among them. While the Patel family has donated 1400 units of blood, another Malvankar family has donated 790 units i.e. about 356 liters of blood.
Maulin Patel told that his uncle Rameshbhai had inspired the family to donate blood. He was inspired by Sathya Sai Baba and started donating blood himself and advised his family to do the same. He donated blood a total of 94 times, while his son Amul donated blood 103 times. The third generation of the family is carrying forward this tradition. Maulik’s parents live in America and have donated blood there 98 times.
The Malvankar family has been engaged in blood donation since 1962, when the Indian Red Cross Society was started. Dr. VD Malvankar was among the members who established the unit in Ahmedabad. 24 people in the family of four brothers are engaged in donating blood.
