Jalandhar Rural Police has arrested 7 members of Ankush Bhaya organised criminal gang, including the gang leader Ankush Sabharwal alias Bhaya. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that with the arrest of these accused, their links with bigger criminal syndicates, including US-based Goldy Brar, Vikram Brar and Ravi Balachoria, have been revealed. The other six arrested members have been identified as Pankaj Sabharwal alias Panku of Mohalla Rishi Nagar, Nakodar, Vishal Sabharwal alias Bharthu, Harmanpreet Singh alias Harman of Mohalla Raunta, Nakodar, Jaskaran Singh Purewal alias Karan alias Jassa of Mohalla Gauns, Nakodar, Aryan Singh of Village Nawazipur, Shahkot and Rupesh Kumar of Rishi Nagar, Nakodar.
The police have also named Karan Sabharwal alias Kannu, a resident of Rishi Nagar, Nakodar and Dalbir Singh alias Harman alias Bhola alias Langda, a resident of Mohalla Gauns, Nakodar in the case, while another member identified as Dibu of Hoshiarpur is also wanted by the police in this case.
The constable was giving confidential information about police action to the gangsters
He said that police teams have recovered four pistols, including two .30 bore pistols, one .32 bore pistol and one .315 bore country-made pistol, along with 7 live cartridges and 1000 tablets of Alprazolam from the possession of the accused. Apart from this, the white colour Venue car (PB-08-EZ-2018) of the accused has also been seized. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the police have also arrested Police Constable Aryan Singh Shipai posted at Sadar Nakodar Police Station for colluding with the gang and leaking sensitive information to the gang. He said that Aryan was absent from duty for about one and a half months and was providing confidential information of police action to the gangsters as well as providing them logistical support.
Attack and bank robbery plots foiled in Hoshiarpur and Nakodar
He said that the kingpin of the gang, Ankush Bhaya was in constant touch with foreign based organised criminal Lovepreet Singh alias Ladi and jailed gangster Ravi Balachoria. With the arrest of the members of this module, Jalandhar Rural Police has successfully foiled the plot of bank robbery and possible attacks on rival gangs by the accused in Hoshiarpur, Mahitpur and Nakodar. SSP Jalandhar Rural Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told in a press conference that based on concrete information, police teams laid a naka near village Malhari, GT Road, Nakodar town and intercepted a white Venue car. He said that during checking, police teams recovered huge quantity of arms and 1000 Alprazolam intoxicating tablets from the accused. The arrested gang members were involved in serious criminal activities in several districts besides drug smuggling, organised crime and other violent activities. A case has been registered in this regard at Police Station Nakodar.
