An explosion took place in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, on Saturday afternoon. One person was injured in this incident and has been admitted to NRS Medical College and Hospital. Kolkata Police said, ‘At around 13.45 pm, information was received that an explosion took place between Blochman Street and SN Banerjee Road. One person/ragpicker has been injured. Immediately after this, OC Taltala went there and found that the injured was taken to NRS and he had suffered an injury on his right wrist.’
Police said that the area was cordoned off with security tape and then the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team was called. After this, BDDS employees arrived, checked the bag and the surroundings. After their departure, traffic was allowed. It is being told that as soon as the blast took place, there was chaos at the spot. However, the situation seems to be normal now. Vigilance has been increased by the police team.

A person present at the spot gave more information about the incident while talking to news agency ANI. He said, ‘When the explosion took place, we were standing nearby. Hearing the sound, we immediately ran towards the spot. We saw that a garbage picker was lying nearby, whose right wrist was injured. The sound of the explosion was very loud.’ He said that the police immediately reached here and took the injured to the hospital. Traffic was blocked at that time. Eyewitnesses said that no one else was injured in this incident.
