In Chhattisgarh, a wild elephant broke away from its herd and attacked people. One person has died in this incident.

An incident of wild elephant attack has been reported in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh. One person died in this attack while another has been injured. Jashpur division forest officer Jitendra Upadhyay said that the incident took place in Aagadih village. According to the information received so far, it has been found that the elephant had got separated from its herd in the neighboring state of Jharkhand. After this, it had entered Jashpur of the neighboring state.
The officer said that a wild elephant attacked two people coming from the front. Asit Tikka died in this. His companion Arvind Tikka was badly injured. When the local people came to know about this, they admitted the injured Arvind to the hospital and after that he was sent to Ambikapur hospital. It has been said that a compensation of Rs 25000 will be given to the deceased person.
The officer said that the elephant is being driven towards the forest. Such conflicts between elephants and humans have increased a lot in the state. Such cases are coming up especially from the northern parts of the state. Such cases have increased a lot in the last 10 years. The districts facing human-elephant conflict mainly include Surguja, Raigarh, Korba, Surajpur, Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Gariaband, Balod and Balrampur. According to the Forest Department, more than 300 people have died in elephant attacks in the state in the last five years.
