In the Congress election committee meeting held for the selection of candidates in Haryana, Rahul Gandhi had expressed his desire for an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party. He had asked the Haryana unit of the Congress to consider this. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has expressed its intention that if an agreement is reached on an alliance, it will not agree to an easy deal. The Aam Aadmi Party has made it clear that it will not agree to 4 or 5 seats. On the other hand, it will be difficult for the Congress to give anything more than this. Especially the local unit will not agree to this because it feels that the Congress can win the election on its own.
On the question of alliance, Haryana Aam Aadmi Party president Sushil Gupta said that the high command will take the decision on the issue of alliance. He said, ‘If the high command tells me, I will put forward my views. I clearly believe that Aam Aadmi Party should not agree to an alliance by taking 4 or 5 seats. Our focus is on all 90 seats. But as a disciplined soldier, if any decision is taken by the national leadership, we will accept it.’ In this way, Sushil Gupta made it clear that Aam Aadmi Party is not going to do a soft deal.
Sushil Gupta contested from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat in the Lok Sabha elections. He stood second here and BJP’s Naveen Jindal won. Aam Aadmi Party sources say that apart from Kurukshetra, the party has a strong presence in Karnal, Panipat, Ambala belt. Sushil Gupta said, ‘On the orders of the national leadership, we are preparing for all 90 seats. We are holding meetings in every assembly. We are continuously organizing programs. Aam Aadmi Party has contested to form a majority government in Haryana. We are working to overthrow the dictatorial government of BJP.’
