Several trains canceled due to falling settlement grant.
Ahmedabad: An accident occurred during construction at the bullet train project site in the district. The ‘segmental launching gantry’ used in the construction work here accidentally withdrawn from its place. Since then, the movement of several trains on the nearby railway line has been disrupted. Officials gave information about this on Monday. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) said that the accident took place in Vatwa at around 11 pm on Sunday night. However, there were no casualties and no damage to the already built structure.
25 trains canceled
An official of the Ahmedabad Railway Division said that at least 25 trains have been canceled due to this incident. In addition, 15 trains were partially canceled. At the same time, the time of five trains was re -determined and the routes of six trains were changed. Railway officials said that efforts are on to remove ‘gantry’ from the affected railway line, so that the movement of trains can be restored. An NHSRCL official said that the restoration of railroads is being done with the help of cranes.
Railway line affected
According to NHSRCL’s statement, “Last night at around 11 am, a ‘segmenal launching gantry’ being used for construction at Watwa (near Ahmedabad) was retreating after completing the concrete girder launching. The accident occurred.” The statement further said, “The nearby railway line has been affected by the incident. Senior NHSRCL officials, police and fire department officials are monitoring the situation on the spot. There is no reported casualties in this accident and there is no harm to the structure built.”
These trains were affected
At the same time, an official of Ahmedabad Railway Division said that the incident has affected the railway traffic on the down line between Watwa and Ahmedabad stations. The canceled trains include Watwa-Borivali Express, Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Express, Vadodara-Vatwa Intercity, Ahmedabad-Valsad Gujarat Queen, Jamnagar-Vadodara Intercity, Vadnagar-Valsad-Vadnagar Express and Vatwa-Anand Memu. Apart from this, Ahmedabad-Majithia Chennai Central Humsafar Express, Rajkot-Sikandarabad Express and some other trains have been re-determined. Railway officials have also issued a helpline number to assist the passengers. (Input-PTI)
