A major accident took place on Saturday at the Army Base Workshop of the Defense Ministry in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Here, while repairing the Bofors cannon, an employee died when the heavy cradle of the cannon fell. As soon as the information was received, a large number of fellow employees reached the hospital. Immunity Mazdoor Sangh has made serious allegations against the army officers regarding this accident. They said that two employees were put on duty on the machine on which four to five employees were required to work.
Apart from this, he alleged that the work for which the crane was used was being done without the crane, as the crane had been shifted to another place. He also cited increasing work pressure as the reason for the accident. Following the allegations, the workshop administration has assured strict action against the culprits after investigation.
The accident occurred at the 506 Base Workshop in Jabalpur, which works under the Ministry of Defense of the Government of India, and where the maintenance and repair of cannon and ammunition used by the Indian Army is done. Aishwarya Kumar Sinha (46) and his partner Ramesh Swamy were working under the Bofors cannon in the 506 Army Base Workshop around 11 am on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, employee Aishwarya got injured when the cradle of Bofors cannon weighing 2 tonnes fell.
As soon as information about the incident was received, other employees took Aishwarya in injured condition to a private hospital in the city and admitted her there. During this time he died at around 4 pm.
Giving information, fellow employee Ramesh, who was working with the deceased Aishwarya at the time of the accident, said, ‘We were opening the cradle part, during this time the 2 ton heavy cradle of the Bofors cannon suddenly came down and Aishwarya, who was working below, got hit by it. I came in. The cradle was lifted with a crane but due to unavailability of a crane, the staff removed it by hand and brought Aishwarya to the hospital. However, Aishwarya Sinha, who was seriously injured in the accident, had died before she could be taken to the hospital.
There is anger among the employees of 506 Army Base Workshop regarding the accident, while after the incident the Army Base Workshop Administration has given instructions for investigation.
