After aerial survey, on foot inspection; CM Nitish took stock of the overflowing Ganga in Patna, inspected flood relief camps

While inspecting the rising water level of the Ganga river, Chief Minister Nitish directed the District Magistrate of Patna to remain fully alert and keep all preparations in mind keeping in mind the rising water level in the areas along the banks of the Ganga river. He also reviewed the flood relief camp in Hajipur.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday took stock of the rising water level of the Ganga river around Patna by road. During this, he took stock of the rising water level of the Ganga river from Digha Ghat to Kagan Ghat of Ganga Path. During the inspection, the Chief Minister stopped at Kagan Ghat, Gandhi Ghat and Krishna Ghat of JP Ganga Path and saw the condition of the areas around the Ganga river and took detailed information from the officials. The Chief Minister also took information about the approach road under construction at Krishna Ghat connecting Ashoka Rajpath to JP Ganga Path and directed to complete the construction expeditiously.

While inspecting the rising water level of the Ganga river, the Chief Minister instructed the District Magistrate of Patna to remain fully alert and keep all preparations in mind keeping in mind the rising water level in the areas along the Ganga river. Keep reviewing the situation continuously and take necessary action quickly. During the inspection, the Chief Minister reached Hajipur via Gandhi Setu. Where he inspected the flood relief camp.

The Chief Minister interacted with the people living in the flood relief camp. He took detailed information about the arrangements there. In the flood relief camp, the Chief Minister instructed the District Magistrate of Vaishali district to take care of the facilities of the people living in all the relief camps. Keep monitoring the situation continuously.

Earlier on Friday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had conducted an aerial survey of the floods and ordered immediate relief to the flood victims. He took stock of the flood situation caused by the rising water level of the Ganga river in Patna and Vaishali districts by conducting an aerial survey. He gave necessary instructions to the officials. The CM has asked the Water Resources Department to be alert and monitor the situation continuously.

He instructed to keep an eye on the low lying areas where water is rising and directed the DM to keep constant vigil. He said, engineers should remain alert. Senior officials should keep camping at the site. Disaster Management Department should keep working so that people do not face any problems. In case of flood, full assistance should be provided to the affected people as per SOP.
