Madhya Pradesh Police on Tuesday seized a huge quantity of raw material for making drugs from a shop in Bhopal. It may have a connection with the recently sealed synthetic drugs factory. Police have also detained one person in this case. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sanjay Aggarwal said that MD drugs (mephedrone) worth an estimated Rs 250 crore to Rs 350 crore can be produced from the seized material.

Let us tell you that recently on October 5, Gujarat ATS and NCB had busted a synthetic drug manufacturing factory in Bagroda area. Gujarat ATS and NCB had seized 907.09 kg of mephedrone with an estimated street value of Rs 1,814 crore. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sanjay Aggarwal said that after the crackdown on the drug factory in Bhopal, MP Police received information about the presence of suspicious substances at the same location and sealed the place on Monday night.

Police received information that Amit Chaturvedi, arrested in the NCB case, had rented a shop in Ganesh Market area in front of a warehouse. He used to shift some goods by car to Bagroda factory late at night. On Tuesday morning, police broke into the shop and found several chemicals kept in drums and sacks. The chemicals found in the shop are used to make MD medicines. The price of raw material available in this shop in the local market is around Rs 60 lakh.

Police said that synthetic drugs worth between Rs 250 crore to Rs 350 crore can be made from this raw material. Shop owner Vishnu Patidar, a resident of Rapadia area of Bhopal, has been booked under section 223 of the Indian Justice Code (disobedience to statutory order issued by public servant). He is accused of not informing the police about renting or leasing the land. Patidar has been detained for questioning.
