The spark arising from the Sanjauli Mosque dispute in Shimla is now seen spreading across the state and people of the Hindu community are taking to the streets and protesting at various places. In such a situation, to maintain a harmonious atmosphere in the state, the Sukhu government organized an all-party meeting under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister in Shimla on Friday. Apart from the ruling Congress and the main opposition party BJP, representatives of CPI, Aam Aadmi Party and other parties were present in this meeting. In the meeting, consensus was reached on the verification of outsiders and making a street vendor policy.
All the parties present in the meeting unanimously passed a resolution to maintain peace and harmony in the state and to formulate a street vendor policy. It was decided in the all-party meeting that the Vidhan Sabha speaker will form a joint committee which will formulate a street vendor policy for people coming from outside the state.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that a consensus has been reached in the all-party meeting to maintain a harmonious atmosphere in the state. A joint committee will be formed to verify the people coming to Himachal from other states and to formulate a street vendor policy so that such problems do not arise again in the future. He said that everyone is allowed to do their business and live in the state within the ambit of the law. The Sanjauli dispute arose from a fight and politicians have fueled it to gain political mileage.
The Chief Minister said that Himachal is a state of protests and during student politics we have also seen many protests and breaking of barricades. The government is working to create a harmonious atmosphere in the state.
On behalf of the opposition, BJP MLA Randhir Sharma said that BJP is with the government to maintain a harmonious atmosphere and brotherhood in the state, but if the mosque is illegal then the government should take immediate action in this. He said that now the mosque committee has also agreed that the illegal mosque should be seized or demolished. In such a situation, now the government should take a decision soon after taking legal advice so that the atmosphere does not deteriorate further. The government should take action in this matter instead of blaming, because the matter has now come to light and in such a situation it is wrong to make baseless allegations of giving funds to the BJP.
CPI(M) leader Rakesh Singha said that CPI(M) is with the government to maintain peace and brotherhood in the state. The dispute should be ended and there should be no attempt to give it a communal colour. Such an atmosphere has a bad effect on the tourism economy and image of the state.
