Ahmedabad plane crash: Today, this painful accident of Boeing 787 Dreamliner in Ahmedabad has become the first fatal accident in the history of this state -of -the -art long distance aircraft. Dreamliner was included in the service more than a decade ago and has been known for its safety since then. As soon as the investigation of the cause of the incident started, the eyes of the whole world are now on this aircraft – which was once considered a revolutionary achievement in the aviation world.
Boeing 787 Dreamliner was introduced in 2011
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was developed in 2011 with the vision that it became more quiet, fuel efficient and passengers friendly aircraft for long distance travel. The aircraft is available in three versions-787–8, 787–9 and 787–10-and is preferred for long distance flights by several major airlines globally.
The major features of Boeing 787 Dreamliner
fuel efficiency:
Dreamliner consumes about 20% less fuel than aircraft of old similar size due to the use of about 50% of the mild composite content in the main structure.
Advanced aerodynamics:
Features such as racned wingtips and smooth nose design reduce the aerodynamic resistance of the aircraft and improve the lift, which improves fuel performance and also reduces pollution.
Next-generation engine:
The aircraft usually consists of Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 or General Electric Genx engines, designed for high efficiency, low noise and minimal impact on the environment.
Passenger features:
It has large -sized window with electronic dimming, better cabin pressure (equivalent to 6,000 feet instead of 8,000 feet), more humidity and smooth ride technology that improve flight experience and reduce jet lag.
State -of -the -art Avionics:
The Dreamliner has the latest flight management system, fly-wine technology and real-time aircraft health monitoring systems, which make the flight more responsible and forecast maintenance.
Strong safety records – so far
Although the entire fleet of Dreamliner was temporarily grounded in 2013 due to the incidence of lithium-ion battery being overheated, the aircraft had set a strong security record since then. So far, more than 1,000 Dreamliner aircraft had given safe flights to millions of passengers and no deadly accident in any aircraft of this model before today’s Ahmedabad accident.
Now the Civil Aviation Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Boeing are investigating the causes of this deadly accident. Aviation analysts are currently appealing for restraint and saying that the aircraft is still too early to conclude a systemic defect. Boeing has expressed deep condolences on the accident and assured full support in the investigation.
