The state cabinet has approved the Van Mitra recruitment which was pending for some time. The Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu approved the appointment of 2,061 Van Mitras in the Forest Department. The special thing is that the Cabinet has abolished the condition of 10 marks interview in this recruitment. After the order of the High Court, it has been decided to end the interview.
70 thousand applications for Van Mitras
In fact, the state government had already started the recruitment process for 2,061 posts of Van Mitra. About 70 thousand applications have been received for these posts. But an applicant had alleged that the Forest Department was conducting interviews for the recruitment of Van Mitras, whereas in the year 2017, the government had issued a notification not to conduct interviews for Class III and IV posts. The allegation was that the government was trying to benefit its favorites by conducting 10 marks interview for the recruitment of Van Mitras. The High Court had rejected the interview of 10 marks. After that the Cabinet has abolished the 10 marks interview.
Recruitment of 150 nurses in Hamirpur Medical College
The Cabinet also decided to create and fill 150 posts of nursing personnel in Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College and Hospital, Hamirpur. Apart from this, it was decided to create and fill six posts of Associate Professor and 10 posts of Assistant Professor in the departments of General Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Anesthesia and Radiology in the Medical College, Hamirpur.
DSP office will open in Nadaun
The Cabinet approved opening of a new Sub-Divisional Police Officer office at Nadaun in district Hamirpur along with creation and filling of five posts in different categories. The meeting approved the establishment of a new fire post at Indora in Kangra district. For its smooth operation, approval was also given to create and fill 13 posts of different categories.
Approval to open police post in Shinkula
The Cabinet also approved establishment of a new police post at Shinkula under Keylong Police Station in Lahaul-Spiti district along with creation and filling up of six posts in various categories. The Cabinet decided to transfer the administrative control of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to the Additional Director General (Home Guards and Civil Defence), which will enable the SDRF to function more effectively during disasters and emergency situations.
Approval for deputation of Home Guard also
Additionally, it also approved deputation of Home Guards for a maximum period of two years to ensure smooth functioning of SDRF. To promote the use of electric vehicles and reduce dependence on fossil fuel vehicles, the Cabinet approved involvement of private stakeholders to provide expansion of EV charging station network along six green corridors of the State. Currently, 77 EV charging stations are already operational on the green corridor.
emphasis on vehicle fitness
The Cabinet also approved setting up of Automated Testing Station for vehicle fitness assessment, which will use advanced automated equipment. Its objective is to establish five such stations to provide better service to the citizens. In the meeting, it was decided to approve the recommendations of the Cabinet Sub-Committee regarding 450 MW Shongtong Karcham Power Project under the chairmanship of Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi. This includes instructions to the company to ensure completion of the project by financial year 2026-27.
Parking will be solved in Shimla city
The Cabinet approved the constitution of a Cabinet Sub-Committee to review the operation of parking facilities operated under PPP model in Shimla city. The committee will be headed by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh and Town Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani will be members of this committee. Shimla MLA Harish Janartha will act as a special invitee. This committee will review lift parking, Chhota Shimla parking, Sanjauli parking, New Bus Stand parking and Tutikandi parking.
There will be changes in eco tourism policy
The meeting also decided to amend the Eco Tourism Policy-2017 in line with the recent amendment in the Forest Conservation Act (FCA) 2023, which aims to promote and develop eco tourism activities in the state.
