Now, arrangements will be made for drainage of rainwater on the lines of Chandigarh in Gurugram, Haryana, adjacent to Delhi. The engineering branch of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has started a survey regarding this. Along with this, it has been decided that more and more drains should be made for drainage of water in the rainwater drains along the road, so that instead of water flowing on the road for a long time, it goes into the rainwater drain through these drains.
The length of GMDA’s main roads is more than 360 kilometers. At present, drains have been built every 50 meters to drain water into the storm drains along these roads. In such a situation, now these drains will be built every 10 meters. The logic behind this, the officials say, is that the slope from village Ghata to Hero Honda Chowk is about 70 meters. In such a situation, water comes down at a fast speed. Due to the drains being far away, water starts flowing on the road. Waterlogging occurs when the level of the road is not correct.
The survey work will be completed in a month
GMDA Chief Executive Officer A. Srinivas has issued orders to make arrangements for water drainage on the lines of Chandigarh. A survey has been started for this. It will be completed within a month. After this, arrangements for rainwater drainage will be improved by inviting tenders. Let us tell you that GMDA has identified 112 places where waterlogging is the most common.
Colonies and sectors are not connected to storm drains
A GMDA official said that Gurugram and Manesar Municipal Corporations have not connected the storm drains of colonies, sectors and villages to the main storm drains, due to which waterlogging situation arises. Palam Vihar is also included in this. The Chief Executive Officer has issued guidelines to both the Municipal Corporation Commissioners in this regard.
The reasons for waterlogging on NH-48 will be investigated
The GMDA Chief Executive Officer has issued orders to investigate the causes of waterlogging on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway (NH-48). Officials of the engineering wing of GMDA have told the Chief Executive Officer that the storm drains of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are not connected to the main storm drains at many places. Due to this, waterlogging occurs on the service road.
